Franco Z -- Z-BOP!

NEWS
END OF AN ERA -- VINTAGE VEGAS, starring Laura Jane, with Franco Z, will perform for the last time at Martinis Above Fourth in Hillcrest on Saturday, August 7. A fixture every Saturday at the swank supper club since it opened six years ago, the duo reduced its appearances to one Saturday per month in 2009. DiscoverSD.com said, "the entertainment featuring the Vegas style lounge act of Laura Jane and Franco Z will make you swoon -- if you are lucky enough to get in." No cover, no minimum. Visit www.martinisabovefourth.com.

FROM K TO Z, starring Kasey Coe with Franco Z, performed at the annual "Festival of the Bells" at the San Diego Mission, Saturday, July 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. (www.festivalofbells.com)

Z-BOP! IN THE GASLAMP -- Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed at The Urban Bar and Grill, 825 Fifth Ave., during the Smooth Jazz Festival on Memorial Day Weekend.

AWARD: Franco Z and Z-BOP! received a special certificate from National City Mayor Ron Morrison for performing for the San Diego Regional Conference of Mayors last September at Pier 32 Marina. The band has been asked back to play for this year's event, April 15, at the marina.

RADIO NEWS: IM Radio -- Independent Musician's Radio (www.IMRadio.com), is now playing five original Z-BOP! songs -- "I'm Still In Love With You," "There's A Someone For Everyone," "Tomorrow I'll Forget You," "Lullaby of Martinis" and "Love You Strong." The premiere internet radio network asked for the Franco Z originals after combing the charts on Broadjam.com.

Z-BOP! In LITTLE ITALY -- On Sunday, October 11, Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed on the Beech St. stage on India St. for the Columbus Day Festa in the heart of Little Italy. The streets were packed to hear Louis Prima swing classics, favorite Italian songs and cool jazz.

IT'S BEEN A LONG, LONG TIME -- After six months atop the Be-Bop Jazz charts -- the longest streak in any category on Broadjam.com -- the Z-BOP! original "Gerry's Tune" finally fell from the number one spot. Still ranked number 2, the song joins other Z-BOP! originals on the charts, including "As Ever," "Lullaby of Martinis" and "Frog's Song" (all Classic Jazz), the Kasey Coe vocal "I Never Thought I'd Say Goodbye To You" (Jazz Standards) and "Love You Strong" (Traditional Blues).

NEW BAND VIDEO -- Z-BOP! entertained over 150 boaters at Pier 32 Marina in National City while L.A. filmmaker Rod Bradley, just back from making a movie in Ethiopia, directed the shooting of a Z-BOP! video. Against the backdrop of yachts and the San Diego Bay, the video covers all the different styles of music the band performs and featured two female vocalists -- Laura Jane and Kasey Coe. A 3-minute version is on Youtube.com and on this website.
