FESTA 2011 will feature Franco Z and Z-BOP! on the Beech St. stage in Little Italy on Sunday, Oct. 9. The band returns to the event to perform two sets -- 12:30 to 3 p.m. Dancing in the street, great food, music and celebration of a great heritage and tradition.

PADRES-DODGER GAME: Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed at The Park at The Park at PETCO Park before the game Saturday, September 24 in celebration of the first-ever Italian Heritage Night. The hometeam won: 3-0.

FRANCO Z performed solo on Sunday, June 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Lord Hornblower for a special political event hosted by National City Mayor Ron Morrison.

SICILIAN FESTIVAL 2011 was held Sunday, May 22 on the streets of Little Italy and once again Franco Z and Z-BOP! opened the festivities on the Beech St. stage. This year, the band played for 3 hours! A great crowd. Check sicilianfesta.com for photos.

APPLE VALLEY Chamber of Commerce holds its annual banquet on Saturday, August 20, with Franco Z and Z-BOP! providing over four hours of music. Guest drummer/vocalist Michael Sinatra will fill out the quartet for the event.

FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR, Sinatra with a Z, starring Michael Sinatra with Franco Z, performed at the annual Honored Ladies Luncheon at the San Diego Scottish Rites Center in Mission Valley. The two-hour luncheon honors widows of the fraternity of Masons. The group's sponsors have already asked the duo back for next year.

AFTER 5 YEARS of Friday nights, Franco Z will be taking a break from Tommy's Italian Restaurant in El Cajon until the summer. The popular eatery featured duos with Franco Z, including Wize Guyz, starring Don Wiseman, From K to Z, starring Kasey Coe, Vintage Vegas, starring Laura Jane, and Sinatra with a Z, starring Michael Sinatra.

Z-BOP! IN DEL MAR -- Franco Z and Z-BOP! just finished a successful 4-month run at Tommy V's in Del Mar.

FRANCO Z IN THE GASLAMP -- The Tipsy Crow featured Franco Z on the main floor from 9 to 11 p.m. on Wednesdays in November and December for their "prohibition" special.

Z-BOP! AT PIER 32 MARINA -- Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, for guests of Pier 32 Marina at its annual holiday party.

Z-BOP! IN THE GASLAMP -- Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed in The Underground downstairs at The Tipsy Crow to celebrate "Repeal Day" -- the anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.

BING CROSBY'S CLOSED -- Another casualty of the tough economic climate. The upscale restaurant and piano bar in the Fashion Valley Mall closed for good after Thanksgiving. Franco and Z-BOP! had been regulars here since last summer.

END OF AN ERA -- VINTAGE VEGAS, starring Laura Jane, with Franco Z, performed for the last time at Martinis Above Fourth in Hillcrest on Saturday, August 7. A fixture every Saturday at the swank supper club since it opened six years ago, the duo reduced its appearances to one Saturday per month in 2009. DiscoverSD.com said, "the entertainment featuring the Vegas style lounge act of Laura Jane and Franco Z will make you swoon -- if you are lucky enough to get in." No cover, no minimum. FRANCO Z and Z-BOP! IN THE GASLAMP -- Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed at The Urban Bar and Grill, 825 Fifth Ave., during the Smooth Jazz Festival on Memorial Day Weekend.

AWARD: Franco Z and Z-BOP! received a special certificate from National City Mayor Ron Morrison for performing for the San Diego Regional Conference of Mayors last September at Pier 32 Marina. The band was asked back to play for this year's event, April 15, at the marina.

RADIO NEWS: IM Radio -- Independent Musician's Radio (www.IMRadio.com), is now playing five original Z-BOP! songs -- "I'm Still In Love With You," "There's A Someone For Everyone," "Tomorrow I'll Forget You," "Lullaby of Martinis" and "Love You Strong." The premiere internet radio network asked for the Franco Z originals after combing the charts on Broadjam.com.

Z-BOP! In LITTLE ITALY -- On Sunday, October 11, Franco Z and Z-BOP! performed on the Beech St. stage on India St. for the Columbus Day Festa in the heart of Little Italy. The streets were packed to hear Louis Prima swing classics, favorite Italian songs and cool jazz.

IT'S BEEN A LONG, LONG TIME -- After six months atop the Be-Bop Jazz charts -- the longest streak in any category on Broadjam.com -- the Z-BOP! original "Gerry's Tune" finally fell from the number one spot. Still ranked number 2, the song joins other Z-BOP! originals on the charts, including "As Ever," "Lullaby of Martinis" and "Frog's Song" (all Classic Jazz), the Kasey Coe vocal "I Never Thought I'd Say Goodbye To You" (Jazz Standards) and "Love You Strong" (Traditional Blues).

BAND VIDEO -- Z-BOP! entertained over 150 boaters at Pier 32 Marina in National City while L.A. filmmaker Rod Bradley, just back from making a movie in Ethiopia, directed the shooting of a Z-BOP! video. Against the backdrop of yachts and the San Diego Bay, the video covers all the different styles of music the band performs and featured two female vocalists -- Laura Jane and Kasey Coe. A 3-minute version is on Youtube.com and on this website.
